About Us
Established in 1986 to service the needs of vehicle owners in the south down area Mackins Accident Repair Centre was set up by its current owners the Mackin family.
Initially a one man operation the business focused on high quality repairs and customer satisfaction which is still to this day the businesses main goals! It is this which has allowed us to grow significantly and we were recently awarded 2019 NI Bodyshop of the Year – we followed this up again this year retaining our NI Bodyshop title and winning National Bodyshop of the year at the 2020 Irish Auto Trade Awards.
These awards are a testament to our ongoing commitment to our customers and service providers. We have also gained accreditation from the British Standards Institute and achieved the coveted BS10125:2014+A1:2016 Kitemark which specifies the best approach to conducting consistently safe, high quality repairs to accident damaged vehicles.
This accreditation alongside our ATA trained technicians and stringent quality controls ensures that when your vehicle comes to us for repairs it leaves safe and repaired to the highest standard. The Kitemark is the UK’s most trusted certification mark. By bringing your vehicle to us you can be sure of:
SAFETY – You will know that your vehicle will give you the same protection as it did before the accident.
TRUST – That your car has been repaired to the highest standards.
TRUST – That your car has been repaired to the highest standards.
Mackins Accident Repair Centre achieved the BSI Kitemark Licence in 2019 on the first audit.
‘’The Kitemark licence gives customers the assurance that the repair is carried out to the highest standards so that the vehicle not only protects the lives of those on the road, but maintains the pre-crash integrity of the car. A bodyshop that has the Kitemark for vehicle body repair, means you can feel reassured that whatever the type of repair needed, whether it be cosmetic, a structural repair or involves aluminium and composite bonding, the quality will be assured.
Failure of a bodyshop to adopt the correct repair method could in certain cases seriously affect the vehicles integrity in the way it may perform in the event of an accident.
When choosing a bodyshop look for the Kitemark. It’s your assurance that the very latest repair techniques will be used and that your vehicle will be repaired to an exacting standard. More and more insurance companies see the Kitemark as a symbol of quality, and also insist that their network of approved repairers achieve the Kitemark status.’’
Quentin Wilson (one of Britains best known motoring authorities) commented,
“Having your car repaired by a Kitemark bodyshop could help save your life. The Kitemark is there to show the motorist that the highest standards of repair have been applied to your vehicle. It means that the actual repair has been done safely, using the right materials and by skilled technicians so that your car offers you the same protection as it did before your accident. Kitemark bodyshops are serious about the safety of motorists.”

Environmental Commitment
Environmental Commitment
We are proud of our ongoing commitment to the environment and minimising our impact on it. To back this up we committed to becoming a carbon neutral repairer. We achieved this in 2020 and the PAS2060 Carbon Neutral Standard. To date we are currently the only repair site in Ireland to have done so. Not wanting o rest on our laurels, we have also completed a solar and battery install project which will see our site run completely on renewable energy with any excess sent back to the grid – playing our part as a responsible business to help in the climate crisis.
